It looks like Volkswagen is focusing on a new target group. By introducing a new version of the UP, Volkswagen wants to focus more on the taxi drivers. With this new target group Volkswagen wants to increase there sales. When you have more target groups, you will have to develop different kind of cars for each group what takes a lot of effort. But when Volkswagen is able to develop the right car for the right target group there position on the market will be a lot stronger.
In London there is a struggle going on between certain car companies who want to develop the new cabs for London. Volkswagen is one of the companies who wants to provide the new cabs. Nowadays Car manufacturers are more focusing on cars that are fuel efficient. That is why Volkswagen introduced a fuel efficient taxi for the taxi drivers of London. Volkswagen does that because it is of course better for the environment and they hope that there car will be selected for the taxi drivers in London.
The new Volkswagen will have 115 horsepower and a top speed of 120 km/h. The car will be charged for 80 per cent of the 300 km after one hour. Because there is less and less space in the cities, the new UP taxi will not be that big. The UP taxi will be smaller than the Volkswagen Fox, but Volkswagen said that the car will be big and comfortable enough for two adult people and there baggage. The car is not that big but when you look at it or when you are sitting it may look big because of the glass roof and the large windows.
